Mount Everest

Mount Everest

Known as 'Sagarmatha' in Nepal and 'Chomolungma' in Tibet, Mount Everest is a symbol of natural grandeur.

Mount Everest was formed around 50 million years ago when the Indian tectonic plate collided with the Eurasian plate, pushing the land upward to create the Himalayas.
The first successful summit was by Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay of Nepal on May 29, 1953. Since then, thousands have attempted the climb.
There are two main routes: the South Col route from Nepal (more popular) and the North Ridge route from Tibet. Both require weeks of acclimatization and physical preparation.
